The short version

We collect the minimum we need to get your order to you. We don't sell your data. We don't share it with anyone who doesn't need it to fulfil your order. Given what we sell, we take this seriously.

Who we are

Chewse is a New Zealand-owned online retailer. Any privacy question: chewse.co@gmail.com.

What we collect

Order information: your name, email, delivery address, phone number, and what you bought.
Payment information: processed securely by Shopify Payments. We never see or store your full card number.
Website data: basic analytics like pages visited and device type, so we can make the site work better.
Marketing: your email address, but only if you choose to give it.

Who we share it with

Only the people who have to touch it to get your order to you:

Shopify — our store platform and payment processor.
Our supplier and courier — your name, delivery address and phone number are passed to our supplier so they can dispatch your parcel, and to the courier so they can deliver it. They do not receive your email, payment details, or any marketing information.

We do not sell your personal information. Ever.

Discretion

We know discretion matters here. Your bank statement shows Chewse, nothing more. Your parcel contains no invoice, no pricing and no paperwork identifying its contents, and nothing on the outside indicates what's inside. We will never send you physical marketing mail.

Marketing emails

Only if you opt in. Every email has an unsubscribe link and it works immediately — no dark patterns, no "are you sure?" gauntlet.

How long we keep it

Order records: 7 years, as required by New Zealand tax law. Marketing data: deleted when you unsubscribe.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it (where we're not legally required to keep it). Email us and we'll action it. No runaround.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep your cart working and to understand how the site is used. You can block them in your browser, though the cart may stop behaving.

Security

Our site runs on Shopify, which is PCI-DSS compliant, and data is encrypted in transit. No system is perfect — but your card details never touch our hands.
